When players start to hit max-level at the beginning of a new expansion, everyone effectively starts from the same place. Lower ilevel, no endgame achievements, and limited experience with the game’s encounter. How does a player make a great first impression? Having flasks, food, and (obviously) great transmog indicate a raid-ready player. But to really prove they are serious and ready for Heroic (or even Mythic), they need to be fully enchanted and ready to go.
While cost may be a bigger factor here depending on the enchant and your own personal playstyle, below you’ll find all the Shadowlands enchants available (at least at the expansion’s launch).

Role-specific enchants for tanking, healing, and DPSing
- Intellect Intellect increases your total mana and your chance to critically strike with spells. Every 1 point increases mana by 15, and every 59.2 points increases Spell Crit Chance by 1%.
- Damage Dealing is probably the most popular role in World of Warcraft and other MMORPG. Not only because DD subclasses are significantly more than others. Mechanics of fighting with furious and cruel enemies require a decent amount of damage per second (DPS) in order to knock down the villain. Moreover, playing DD is just funny.
- Damage added from Shadowform, Darkness, Shadow Weaving, Misery, Curse of Shadow, and Improved Shadow Bolt, and so on. Damage added from attack power bonuses (possibly double-dipping - the direct buff, and scaled with your stats), armor reductions on the target, and so on.
- This statistic allows you to deal more damage against Shadow-resistant Bosses. Intellect - Increases your total Mana Pool and provides you with additional Spell Critical Chance (59,5 Int = 1% Spell Critical Strike Chance). Statistic Priority for a Warlock: Spell Damage/Shadow Damage ⇒ Spell Critical Chance ⇒ Spell Hit Cap ⇒ Spell.
When it comes to weapons, Shadowlands kept it simple — any class can use any Enchant regardless of weapon type, but many enchants favor a specific role:
- Celestial Guidance — This occasionally increases the character’s primary stat by 5% when attacking, using spells, or abilities. A general enchant usable by anyone.
- Ascended Vigor — Sometimes increases healing received when taking damage. Mostly for tanking, though it may have niche use in PVP.
- Eternal Grace — Sometimes causes a burst of healing on the target of your helpful spells and abilities. This will grant healers extra healing.
- Lightless Force — Has a chance to send out a wave of Shadow energy that strikes the first five enemies in front of the caster when using offensive spells and abilities. Basically, extra AOE damage for DPS.
- Sinful Revelation — Sometimes cause the target of your attacks to suffer an additional 6% damage from your attacks for 10 seconds. Extra burst damage, and only on enemies already being attacked, not like Lightless Force which could hit an area, including enemies that haven’t been hit yet.
Death Knights, don’t forget about your Runeforges! New Runeforge options have been added in Shadowlands and will allow for more customization.
Of course, these enchants don’t necessarily favor ranged Hunters. For Marksmen and Beast Master Hunters, there are attachments crafted by Engineers for their weapons instead:
- Optical Target Embiggener — Occasionally increases Critical Strike. This is a perfectly cromulent choice for either spec.
- Infra-green Reflex Sight — Occasionally increases Haste.
Rings provide secondary stats
The rings do what they always do — provide secondary stats. And they are named after the Enchants they are — very straightforward stuff here. There are two versions of each, differing in how much of the stat they give, and of course, how much they will set you back in cost or resources:
- Bargain of Critical Strike and Tenet of Critical Strike — Increasing Critical Strike by 12 or 16.
- Bargain of Haste and Tenet of Haste — Increasing Haste by 12 or 16.
- Bargain of Mastery and Tenet of Mastery — Increasing Mastery by 12 or 16.
- Bargain of Versatility and Tenet of Versatility — Increasing Versatility by 12 or 16.
Armor enchants that should not be skipped
All Cloak enchants increase Stamina. Three increase a tertiary stat, and the fourth just has more stamina than the others:
- Fortified Avoidance — Increase Stamina by 20 and Avoidance by 30. This is meant for tanks.
- Fortified Leech — Increase Stamina by 20 and Leech by 30. Best for DPS to offset of AOE damage, and to help the healers out.
- Fortified Speed — Increase Stamina by 20 and Speed by 30. Great for healers, melee who need to move around a lot, and anyone who feels their class doesn’t have the same movement options as every other class.
- Soul Vitality — Increase Stamina by 30. Good for anyone where the tertiary stats don’t provide benefits, and dying is an issue.
The chest enchants all provide an increase to primary stats. Additionally, they sometimes give an extra benefit:
- Sacred Stats — Increase all stats by 20. This is the cheapest option.
- Eternal Insight — Increase Intellect by 20 and give your spells and abilities a chance to deal additional shadow damage. This is for DPS casters to do more damage.
- Eternal Bulwark — Increase Armor by 25 and Strength or Agility by 20. The highest stat is always chosen. This is the catch-all for tanks, so Blizzard didn’t have to make separate enchants for Agility and Strength classes.
- Eternal Stats — Increase all stats by 30. For when that extra 10 to the primary stat is better than any of the bonuses from the other enchants.
- Eternal Bounds — Increases Intellect by 20 and your mana pool by 6%. Great for healers, and maybe Arcane Mages.
- Eternal Skirmish — Increase Strength or Agility by 20 and give auto-attacks and auto-shots a chance to deal shadow damage. This is the catch-all for melee DPS and ranged Hunters.
Primary stat and utility enchants in Shadowlands
When it came to bracers, gloves, and boots, the team was creative. More stats? Utility? They compromised. Each of the three slots focuses only on one primary stat. Each slot also has a “catch-all” enchant that works for anyone. For instance, Intellect users will definitely want their bracers enchanted — but gloves and boots? Totally optional.
Bracer enchants (Intellect + faster Hearthstones)
- Shaded Hearthing — Reduce the cooldown of your Hearthstone by 5 minutes while in the Shadowlands.
- Illuminated Soul — Increase Intellect by 10.
- Eternal Intellect — Increase Intellect by 15.
Glove enchants (Strength + gathering speed)
- Shadowlands Gathering — Increases the speed of gathering in the Shadowlands.
- Strength of Soul — Increase Strength by 10.
- Eternal Strength — Increase Strength by 15.
Boot enchants (Agility + reduced falling damage)
- Soul Treads — Reduces falling damage by 10%.
- Agile Soulwalker — Increase Agility by 10.
- Eternal Agility — Increase Agility by 15.
Additional temporary enchants that stack
All of the enchants above will stick around until you replace the gear. But that’s not all! There are additional items that will add temporary enchants. And better yet, they stack with the other enchants! However, worse yet, they are created by professions and will cost a lot of gold or resources. Start crafting!

Originally in beta it added it four slots: chest, legs, hands, and feet, but they recently changed it so only goes onto one slot, applies about four times as much Stamina. There are two types, Desolate Armor Kit (+16 Stamina) and Heavy Desolate Armor Kit (+32 Stamina). They are both made by Leatherworkers and can be applied for two hours. They stack with the Chest enchant and persist through death. Apply it at the very start of the raid or Mythic dungeons, and be prepared to reapply if your night goes longer than two hours.
When it comes to weapons, there are options. Stones are created by Blacksmiths and increase Attack Power. Oils are created by Alchemists and provide special effects. Each last for one hour.
There are two types of stones, Sharpening Stones are added to bladed weapons — swords, daggers, axes, polearms, and fist weapons. Weightstones are added to maces and staves, though why someone wants to increase the AP on staves is questionable. The available stones are:
- Porous Weightstone — Balances your blunt weapon, increasing Attack Power by 16 for 1 hour.
- Porous Sharpening Stone — Sharpens your bladed weapon, increasing Attack Power by 16 for 1 hour.
- Shaded Sharpening Stone — Sharpens your bladed weapon, increasing Attack Power by 20 for 1 hour.
- Shaded Weightstone — Balances your blunt weapon, increasing Attack Power by 20 for 1 hour.
If Attack Power isn’t right for your character, then an Oil will be better. There are two oils, crafted by Alchemists, that can be applied in place of a stone:
- Embalmer’s Oil — Gives you a high chance to heal yourself when you deal damage or healing. If already at full health, grants an absorb shield instead. Of all the temporary weapons augments, this is the best for survivability.
- Shadowcore Oil — Gives you a high chance to deal additional shadow damage when damaging an enemy. The high chance, and how good shadow damage is, will determine if the randomness of this is better or worse than the sustained increase of the AP from the stones.
What should a character have on them in total?
To be fully decked out, and maximized for endgame content, a character should have the following enchants:
- Chest: Stats.
- Cloak: Stamina.
- Rings: Your best secondary stat.
- Gloves, boots, or bracers: Your primary stat or a bonus Shadowlands passive.
- Weapon: Varies by class/role (enchants for most, scopes or Runeforges where applicable).
- As well as one additional stone or oil, if you prefer.
- Optional: Temporary Armor Kit applied to the chest.
Once you have every slot covered, you’ll be ready to take on Shadowlands endgame content!

Overview
In WoW lore, Warlocks derive pleasure from cursing and hurting their enemies. They are masters of the Shadow and Destructive magic and can bind powerful demons to their will. In WoW Classic, they are versatile Damage Dealers who suffer a bit from limited debuff slots. Despite that limitation, they are still very popular as a Class thanks to their grim flavor, great utility spells, and the ability to humiliate inexperienced enemies in PvP. Their second main limitation - the fact that pets take 100% damage from AoE abilities, is countered by the most popular Warlock DPS build, that sacrifices a pet in exchange for increased Shadow Damage.
Wow Intellect Or Shadow Dmg Map
When in a Raid or a Dungeon group, Warlocks provide Soulstones that allow an in-Combat resurrection of a pre-designated party member, Healthstones that work like Health Potions, and the Ritual of Summoning that makes assembling a Raid much, much easier. Contrary to what their lore background might suggest, Warlocks are best friends of any Player that likes to run through any kind of group content. They also provide various powerful debuffs that come in handy in a multitude of situations. Moreover, they don't have any Sustain problems, thanks to their Life Tap ability which allows them to perform at the highest level even during long encounters.

Note: Here, we will point you only towards the best PvE DPS Warlock Race. If you'd like to know more about other race picks, please check our WoW Classic Beginners Guide, where we dive deep into all available Mage's race choices for both factions.
Alliance | Human racials do not boost Warlock's PvE capabilities at all. This makes Gnome the best choice if you want to capitalize on every minor advantage available. His Intellect Racial is very strong as it provides additional Mana and Spell Critical Strike Chance. Engineering Specialization is surprisingly valuable because Engi is a go-to PvE profession, and Escape Artist will allow you to escape death from AoE damage from time to time. |
Horde | Both Horde Races that can choose the path of a Warlock are pretty much equally good for PvE, so the choice is purely up to one's preference. If you want to have some more utility in a form of Cannibalize and Will of the Forsaken, go for Undead. If you want to pursue DPS at all costs, Orc will be the best choice for you, thanks to his Pet Damage increasing Racial (this will not matter if you pick the DS/Ruin Build, however). |

The Best Professions Choice
There are two professions that make a real impact in Raids and they are Engineering and Tailoring (Alchemy is also a decent option, but you can buy Flasks, Elixirs, and Potions from other players, which makes it much less impactful). Engineering gives you access to powerful explosives that increase your AoE and Single-Target DPS. Moreover, Engi gadgets come in handy in many back-to-the-wall situations. The fact that Engineering is also considered the best PvP profession is an added benefit to its power in PvE environment. Tailoring, a seemingly mediocre PvE profession, gives you access to a powerful Bind on Pickup Robe - Robe of the Void which is a pre-Raid BiS that is great during phase Phase 1 and stays competitive in Phase 2. Getting it will definitely raise the power level of your character during the first few Phases of Classic.
At the start, you should pick Mining to supplement your Engineering Skill, you should also stock up on Cloths instead of vendoring/selling them. After you max out Engi, you should switch Mining to Tailo, as it can be easily (and rather cheaply) leveled without a supporting profession.

The Best Talent Builds
Proper Talent allocation is essential for maximizing Damage output. Here, we will describe the most optimal spec and lead you through the Talent Trees level-by-level to explain some choices.
There are two competitive Warlock DPS Builds to choose from if you are DPS-oriented:
- Demonic Sacrifice + Ruin Build (DS/Ruin) - By far the most popular build. It utilizes the Demonic Sacrifice Talent from Demonology Tree to provide +15% Increased Shadow Damage at the cost of sacrificing a pet. Despite the fact that all Demonology Talents up to DM are rather mediocre (and some are straight-up useless because they boost Warlock's pet that gets sacrificed anyway), the build is considered as the best when it comes to raw DPS numbers. The fact that Demo Talents other than DS are not that useful allows you to tinker with the build and adjust it to your liking. We feature a version that gives you an additional defensive option, thanks to Fel Domination, Improved Voidwalker and Master Summoner Talents (the idea is that, in a case of emergency, you quickly summon your Voidwalker and sacrifice it immediately to shield yourself from incoming damage).
- Shadow Mastery + Ruin Build (SM/Ruin) - The less popular, but still competitive build that doesn't force you to sacrifice your pet. The build provides 5% less bonus Shadow Damage than the DS/Ruin variant, but it lets you take advantage of your pet's buffs. You can be sure than at least one Warlock will be forced to run this build in the Raid environment to provide Tanks with Imp's Blood Pact Stamina buff. Your Damage output with this build will rise considerably if you meet two conditions. Firstly, you have to be allowed to cast Corruption (to take advantage of the Nightfall Talent), and secondly, you have to keep your Imp alive. If you manage to meet these two conditions, you might even deal more DPS than DS/Ruin Warlocks.

Proper enchants and consumables will greatly increase your Damage output. While getting enchants is a one-time-deal, farming consumables might be a real chore, but it is still worth it as numbers clearly show.

Rotations
In Classic, Warlock follows more of a priority list than a strict rotation. This means that if you have multiple spells available for casting, you should always choose the one that is higher on the list.
Note: most of the time, you'll want to use your Cooldowns at the start of combat, so that you'll get a second (and a third in long encounters) charge before the fight ends.
Note2: You might not be allowed to cast your DoTs (Corruption/Curse of Agony) and/or tasked with maintaining a specific Curse on a Target.
